Democracy is the most pounced political terminology of 21st century. Moving through inverse chronology we found its roots in the Greek political system. The political world has uncounted a number of experiments of ruling the masses, but democracy proved the most successful of all. In it there exists an understanding between authority and masses. Abraham Lincoln is able to rightly define democracy as:

                         “It is the government of the people, for the people

                           by the people”.

            Democracy in its early form was exercised by tribes men where the head was chosen by the mutual agreement of the people and all the decisions were taken by the consent of the important men of the tribe. The theme of the old democracy with the new is the same (the agreement of the majority rules) buy now democracy is acquired through proper institutions which have become major parts to run a country.

    Electoral integrity is one of the main themes of democracy. Free and fair elections are the hallmarks of democracy. Electoral integrity is needed in order to maintain a healthy political environment and if some politicians are applying some fraudulent ways in order to gain some personal benefits masses can put down their tenure by rejecting them.

    These politicians loot the people those people who have voted them in order to give them authority to eradicate there problems. Personal benefit is the greatest danger to democracy. Liquate Ali Khan the ex-prime minister of Pakistan was unaccepted by West Pakistani politicians. These Politicians were not patriotic these were the tribes leaders  who wants to increase their authority over the 

Pakistan territory by making ways firstly in political parties than towards parliament as a result the news of Liquate Ali Khan assassination was heard.

          Democracy needs special conditions in order to flourish. Literacy Is the biggest element in prospering democracy and after 67 years still Pakistan is striving hard to increase its literacy rate. Well educated masses  after weighing pros and corns are able to select the best option for them. They select the leader who understand their problems and who is sincere and competitive enough to solve their problems. Awareness of rights is the most important characteristics  of democratic masses. Acknowledgment of one’s right helps the masses to select the best leader for them.

       Besides all the benefits of democracy Pakistan has failed to enjoy its true essence, as its masses lack awareness. Every time during elections they make a fatal error and chooses the wrong man and stake their and their children’s future. A large number of people not even bother to vote they throw their right to vote in the garbage so they gave their chance to the black sheeps who are voting fake votes and by winning through these crooked ways wrong people are able to win the seat of authority.

                Today’s life has changed its ways. The perspective of living has changed. Standards have changed and most importantly the ways of rulings have changed.

The world has loose its simplicity and has become glamorous and complex. Than the king rules, now the people or masses rule. Than there was only the announcement of the authority now there is the selection of authority, now the voice of the commoner rules, and vote of the majority rules.

                It is the world of transitions and competition everyone wants his share in this world. Democratic system does not let others to exceed from their rights. Now the law rules. Anyone can challenge the authenticity, the actions of others through proper procedures laid down under law. For the leaders who lose the trust of their masses can be replaced. The masses are no longer blind followers are the bounded slaves, whose eyes ate the eyes of the leaders, whose hands are the hands of the leaders, whose words are the words of the leader. Today is the world of awareness.

    A democratic society enlarges the opportunity of its members. Law is the supreme authority in such a country the head or the layman both are questionable to their deeds. The government if shows ineffectiveness in its policies can be broken with the help of the opposition in the parliament.

     Opposition is the main agent in keeping a country well balanced in politics. It would not let the government to do its own will. All the committees made by the government include opposition members in order to shape the best policy in the favor of masses.

    Media is also a strong and a powerful agent in keeping balance in the authority of the government. Media gives exposure to the policies made by the government. There are unending debates and analysis about the happening in the country. The leaders are directly questioned by interviewing them. Through media all the evilness, corruption is exposed and highlighted. Media is a source of awareness and enlightment of the acknowledgment of one’s rights.

   An educated masses is the most potent and proactive agent in creating a democratic society. Well aware societies never let robbers, looters and autocrats to rule them. As Pluto says:

                 “The punishment of wise men that refuses to take part in the affairs of the government is to live under the government of unwise men”.

So a wise man with the power of speech can be attained only through education so he can set the values of free speech where one can comment on government without any fear of punishment.

                     The fear of government is of old days. The only reason why democracy is ruling the modern world is that awareness of one’s rights has increased and as the world has become globalized one nation takes benefits from the experience of the other nation. In democracy everybody is equal in the eyes of law whether I n the change of language or religion.

The uniqueness of democracy as a system lies in its rule of majority, equality of citizen under law, outspoken and robust attitude of people against government, through media exposure of evilness and villainy of the society, free from fear, harassment and discrimination, the right to elect the right legislature and the power to remove them these are all the benchmarks of democracy. So the benefit of democracy is enormous and is the major reason of its success in the transient and modern political world.
